2009 State Tournament

Applebee's Park - Lexington

Jim Bell  has been selected to represent the KBUA in this year's KHSAA State Tournament at Applebee's Park in Lexington. Jim has been a member of the KBUA for 15 years serving as Secretary of the association since 2000, when he was elected to finish out the vacated term of Kenny Janes. He did such a good job we kept him...for 10 years! Welcome to the KBUA! This is Jim's first State Tournament but he is no stranger to the post-season. His list of credentials includes 11 District, 10 Regional and 4 Semi-State tournaments, in addition to 9 years of college ball with the SIUA.

Back in 1995 Jim saw an ad in the paper for the KBUA and called. Of all the people in the association he could have talked with, it was Kenny Eckhardt (aka Kenny Eggcarton to my girls) that answered and, in his own words, "...he was so friendly that I knew I had to check out the association and I'm glad I stayed with it." What a testimony to the brotherhood of umpiring and the hospitality and dedication of one of the ambassadors near and dear to the heart of the KBUA.

Jim will take with him to Lexington the winner of Semi-State #3, Bullitt East. Coach Jeff Bowles manuevered the Charger's through the 21st District and 6th Region to become one of our two local representatives at the 2009 State Tournament. Joining them will be Trinity who swept Anderson County 2-0 in Semi-State #4. Led by skipper Steve "Inch".."you're better than that".. Tompkins, the Shamrocks will represent our 7th Region in the State Tournament.

Congratulations to Jim, Bullitt East and Trinity. Good Luck in Lexington and the 2009 State Tournament!
